James Tullos in Texas Sept 1836

James Tullos/Tullis 1790 N.C. - 1860 TX is in the county records of Montgomery County in Conroe Texas. He previously had lived in Mississippi near his father Willoughby T Tullos and mother Anna Mills - brother of Temple Tullos (wife of Temple - Thankful Mills)

I found a deed from Richard Tullows to James Tullows in the town of Cincinnatti for $38. Lot 426, Block 31 July 1838 at the County Court House of Montgomery Texas - Conroe

Cincinnatti was a Riverport town on the banks of the Trinity River near Tullis Prairie and Danville - in the Northern part of Walker County Texas. I've read that there is nothing left of the historic town but a few old bricks.

James is the father of Ransom Tullos / Tullis (many spellings of Tullos - Tullous, Tullows, Pullis, Tillons etc.)
James and Ransom are listed in the 1840 CITIZENS OF TEXAS VOLUME 1 as Tullows - arriving in Texas Sept 1836

Also James is the father of Pearcy Tullos / Tullis / Tullows ---- Pearcy married James Washington Winters, Jr. who fought at the battle of San Jacinto. James' father - James Washington Winters Sr. was a friend of Sam Houston's.

If anyone has already qualified - or wants to qualify for the Daughters of the Republic of Texas with James and/or Ransom, please respond to me - texastullos@yahoo.com
