Civil War Records

I am researching information on the Civil War Records and any information on Co. C, 6th Regt Texas Infantry. My great grandfather Charles Harrison enlisted in the civil war there in Victoria, Texas. He evidently was discharged around Sept 1, 1862 on a surgeons certificate of disability & application for discharged.

Is there any information around Victoria that would have any information on this person being discharged from the civil war on disability and what type of disability this was.

I found Charles in the 1880 census but have not located him in the 1870's.
