Newton McKenzie Family

Looking for information that might confirm that Newton McKenzie lived in Van Zandt County between 1870-1880. His wife's maiden name was Margaret Carr. A son, Robert Pirt McKenzie, was born to them in 1879 according to information provided by LDS web site. There is speculation that Robert was a twin and that his twin as well as his mother may have died at childbirth or shortly thereafter. Are there records in Van Zandt County to confirm their deaths or burial in the county? Are there tax records or land records to confirm that Newton resided in the county during this period? It seems that Newton may have left the county and possibly returned to Mississippi following the birth of Robert. Any information would be appreciated.
