I have been researching the Moss family of Limestone County, Alabama and find your posts. I want to thank you for taking the time to post your information.
My husband's grandmother was Mary Malinda Moss (born 1885, Stoddard County, Missouri)and I have been trying to trace her family for about 6 years. Her father was Ephraim Moss, his father was Thomas Wesley Moss, his father was David Moss and wife Nancy Unknown who married Mr. Burnes after David died and took all those kids to Texas. In the 1850 Limestone County Census you find Thomas W.(21) and wife Sarah (21) with children Nancy M. and John H. In 1860 they are in McNairy County, Tennessee, in 1870 they are in Alcorn County, Mississippi and in 1880 Sarah is alone with what is left of her family in Pemiscot County, Missouri. The children keep having birth places change from Tennessee to Mississippi and in doing some research I found that in 1870 they lived in Chewalla Tennessee Twp. but the Census says Alcorn County, Mississippi. I guess that they were so close to the border between Tennessee and Mississippi that it got confusing.
Do you know what happened to Samuel Moss who is listed in the 1850 Census? He has such a large family I thought I could find some of them in 1860 but have had no luck.
You are fortunate, you family stayed in Limestone. I am hoping that someone finds out who the father of this family was, the one that married Lydia, and were they came from.
Thanks again for all your postings.
