Martha Palmer Stegall b. 21 June 1833in Ga. was the d.o. John Palmer b.1806 S.C. and Mary Camp b. 1815 S.C.
Martha m. Hensley Zachariah Stegall in Dec 1849 in Cobb Co. Ga. H.Z. was b. 1828 Ga. and was the son of Bird Stegall and Abrigale Conger. Martha and H.Z. Stegall moved to Tishomango Co. Ms. date unknown, before moving on to Texas.
H.Z. Stegall d. 14 Feb. 1909 Energy, Comanche Co. Tx.
In 1913 Martha applied for a Civil War widows pension from Upshur Co. #24523 Reproduced from holdings of the Texas State Archives. Pension was approved and allowed from Dec. 1913.
On pension app. Martha gave statement that H.Z. Stegall fought in war from Tishomingo Co. Ms. Said she was 80 years old and had lived in Tx. for 36 years.
She died 19 Dec. 1923 in the home of her son R. Stegall, Big Sandy and was b. Hopewell Cem. near Latch. She was the mother of Elizer Stegall Burcham and others.??
