Hardy family in 1850s

I am searching for clues to a man named RICHARD HARDY who was in Tyler TX abt 1855. He was the buardian for some Hardy children whose father, JOHN HARDY, died just prior to 17 Oct 1855 in Pointe Coupee, LA. Involved in the settlement of the estate was a man named HIRIAM WATTS. RICHARD HARDY may be connected to my HARDY family. My search dead ends with my g-g-grandfather, William Hardy (b 1 Jun 1781 VA d 13 Oct 1856 Edgefield District, SC. My great-uncle, William Arthur Hardy fled to Cherokee County, TX after running into great difficulty after the Civil War with the occupying Federal troops here. I was told by the family that he had relatives out there. I've never found out who they were. Does anyone out there have access to the early Tyler, TX deed and will records that can help me find ANY HARDY families in that area?
