We are thinking he is the brother to James Langston, born abt 1871 in MS, died bef the 1900 Census, perhaps in Rockland, Tyler Co TX.

Names appears in the record as "Quillah", "Quiller", "Quilla"

Quillah appears in the 1900 Census in a Rockland Boarding House belonging to the Brown family.

Census 1900 United States Federal Census
Name: Quillah Langston
Home in 1900: Justice Precinct 8, Tyler, Texas
Age: 27
Birth Date: Oct 1872
Birthplace: Mississippi
Race: White
Gender: Male
Relationship to Head of House: Son-in-law
Father's Birthplace: Mississippi
Mother's Birthplace: Mississippi
Spouse's name: Louisa
Marriage Year: 1893
Marital Status: Married
Years Married: 7
Residence : Rockland, Tyler, Texas

J.M (Jim?) and Julia A. Brown were the proprietors of the boarding house.

Quillah's wife was Louisa Brown and her mother Julia may have been Julia Ann Yates(?). Quillah and Louisa have a son, James W. born Dec 1898.

Quillah is a locomotive fireman, as was Richard Wilson, Ben Hayes, and Charles Jones, all boarding at the Brown's.

There is a Death Certificate for a Quiller D Langston, born Oct 1970 MS and died Jun 6, 1929 in Beaumont, Jefferson Co., TX. Father listed as Nute Langston, no mother. Informant is Doyle Wingate of 955 Caldwell Ave. Quilla's death place was originally listed at that address but a line was drawn through and Hotel Dieu listed instead (it was a hospital), therefore I am guessing Doyle may have been a grandson. Quilla's occupation was a retired engineer of Kirby Lumber Mill.

His wife's Death Certificate is listed as "Mrs Quilla Langston", b. July 9, 1880 and died Feb 16, 1916, Beaumont, Jefferson Co., TX. Parents are Jim Brown and Jula Yates. Informant is Quilla Langston.

Both are buried in the Magnolia Cem., Beaumont. They lived at 197 Doucette St., about where MLK Parkway now runs.
