Early Travis County JP's

Does anyone know how I would go about finding out who the JP's of Travis County were in the 1800-1880's?

I have been told that my grgrgr grandfather was a JP in Travis County, but I do not know what precinct, or the exact year. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
