FULL MESSAGE - Trip to Austin - Civil War Research

I am planning a trip to Austin in the near future to do some research on my gg-grandfather George W Walker.

I wish to research his enlistment for the Civil War. Guidance appreciated.
Company was organized in Travis County, Texas, enrolled at Camp Clark, Tex., July 11, 1861, and mustered into the Confederate service "for the war" at Richmond, Va., on Sept.16, 1861, by 2Lt. Wailer R. Bullock, CSA.

WALKER, G. W. - Enl., Bastrop, Tex., Apr. 5, 1862: W., Chickamauga (Sept.19, 1863): W. & POW, Knoxville, Dec. 1, 1863: Died at Fed. hosp. (Middle Brook) near Knoxville, Dec. 5, 1863.

He is not to be found in any census records. He married Debroah Layton 22 Sep 1852 Matagorda county. She was born 18 Oct 1822 NJ. Children included William P. b:1853 Magtagorda, TX, Annie b:1856 Bastrop, Lorenzo Dow b: 1857 Bastrop, John Henry b:1859 Bastrop, and Edwin b:1861 Bastrop. Edwin died shortly after birth.

George W enlisted 1862 and he and his wife died 1863. Later LA census records of Lorenzo's indicate George W Walker was from MO.

I would appreciate knowing research centers in Austin that might have information on his enlistment. Where might these records be kept?
