I have a large file on Boykin's (and Ivie's), by my ex-wife.
Don't have your specific names, but I live in San Angelo, and knew both families a little.

Son is descendant.
Have far back as Edward Boykin b. abt 1650 in England.
I am sure there is relation, but I didn't include cousins.
