This year, the San Angelo State School Volunteer Services Council will be hosting the Third Annual McKnight TB Hospital Reunion. It will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2001, at the School's recreation park cabins located along the Concho River across from the main facility. The State School was once known as the Anti-tuberculosis Colony #1 and later renamed the McKnight State Tuberculosis Hospital. The volunteer council recognized the need to contact past patients, staff, nursing school students and their respective families in order to preserve the rich history of the facility. If anyone would like to attend, please contact me at 915/465-2726 or email me at the address given above. We have boxes of old photos, a video tape of the facility during the 1940-1950's, and many other interesting stories that have been transcribed from past reunions. I hope this helps!
Also, the Tom Green County Geneological Society was at the facility conducting a cemetery survey. They stopped by and indicated that they were looking for the Carlsbad Cemetery, but they were unable to get a clear lead as to where the cemetery was actually located. shelley
