Duke - Texas

September 18th is a very significant day for me. It is the day my dad, Charles Ray Duke, was born in 1933, Terry County, Texas, and also the day he died in 2001, San Diego County, Texas. His parents were both from Texas - Ray Talbert Duke (07/21/1911 - 09/02/89) and Ira Foshee Duke (03/10/1915 - (03/31/1993). My Dad had one sister, Shirley Jean Duke (1935 – 1999/2000???). My great-grandparents were Charlie D. Duke (I believe the "D" is Della) and Clara Talbert Duke (Clarabelle?). Charlie D. Duke was born on May 29, 1875 in Collin County, Texas and died on January 2, 1966 in Brownfield, Terry County, Texas. I know very little about Clara other than she had a lot of sisters, died in the flu epidemic of 1918 (after nursing her sisters) and is buried in Leonard, Fannin County, Texas. After Clara’s death, Charlie moved their children to Terry County, Texas. Charlie and Clara had six children - Effie May Duke Sterling, William Clarence Duke, Alma Kate Duke Webb, Jo Frieda Duke Anthony, Lela Edith Duke Gore and Ray Talbert Duke. I wish I had listened and paid more attention to all the family history stories they told me. If you recognize this family, please email me.
