Thanks so much for the reply. I do know who he was related to. Breifly without boring you with the names of my ancestor Solomon Ray Jr was born in 1811 in Jasper co Ga. He married Jane Church in 1829 in Henry co Ga. they went to Meriwether co Ga about 1830 and then were in Tallapoosa co Alabama about 1836. They had a number of children and Lucinda Ray born in 1837 in Tallapoosa co Al was my ancestor. She married Thomas M Abel or Ables in 1862 in Winston co Alabama. They had a daughter Sarah Elizabeth Abel or Ables born 1877 in Winston co Al. She married Lloyd Costello Smith in 1892 in Monroe co Mississippi. John Bigfoot Ray was I believe the cousin of Sarah Elizabeth Abel or Ables which means he was the son of one of Lucinda Ray's brothers since his name was John Bigfoot Ray. She of course had cousins on the Abel side but his name was Bigfoot Ray. Lucinda Ray born 1837 in Tallapoosa Co Al did have a brother named John ray and he is the only brother or sister of Lucinda Ray no researcher can find any info about only that he was born about 1833 in Meriwether co Ga and went to Tallapoosa co Al with his parents Solomon Ray Jr and Jane Church about 1836. There is a good chance he had a son named John Ray who was probaly Bigfoot Ray. If Lucinda's brother John was born in 1833 and if he married and had children about 1778 the he would have been the right age range to possibly have been in a bar fight in Texas and he would have been the cousin of Sarah Elizabeth Ables. Thanks,Ross
