I'm tracing the surnames of Ivy, Hicks, Lackey, and Spiller, so far.
John D. Ivy, and 2nd wife Martha Virginia Kirk, she came to Tx (from Wilcox county, alabama), in 1878 and married Mr. Ivy in 1879. He was a widower with several children and was about 20 years older than she was. They had one son, James Wesley Kirk Ivy, born 1881, he married Annie Belle Lackey. Annie Belle was the daughter of George Lackey and Amanda Martin. (originally from Alabama)
Jesse Snead Hicks was the son of Isaiah Hicks and Susan A. Chappell. (Jesse was born in Freestone county)
Jesse married Dovie Spiller(s) on Jan 14, 1899 in Georgetown TX.
Dovie's parents were William Spiller(s) and Mrs. Amanda M. Carver (her 2nd marriage).
I believe all these people died around the town of Tuscola, Taylor county, Tx. From the census, I learned that they all had land around there around the end of the 19th century. I have photos of some of the family tombstones. If anyone else can connect to this family, I sure would like to hear from you.
None of the half siblings of James Wesley Kirk Ivy have ever been in touch with us. My mother in law has an old photo album with many many unidentified photos in it that I'm guessing are probably Ivy's, and maybe Kirk's as well. The trunk the album is in is believed to have belonged to Martha Virginia Kirk or her step daughter Minnie.
If any of this sounds remotely familiar, please email me.
