Wont know if the L in her name stands for Lola until I see if there is an obit.
If you compare Texas Death Records and SSDI (both at Rootsweb) - you get two other possibilities:

Newton, Lola Bell b 16 Nov 1893 - d 11-15-1981 Gray Co
SSN: 453-17-7965 iss TX
Newton, John Wesley - b 30 Mar 1894 - d 4-26-1980
SSN 444-16-7656 iss OK

Newton, Lola Lavonia b 13 Sep 1899 - d 6-29-1980 Gregg Co
SSN: 450-56-3647
Newton, John Wesley d 9-21-1998 Gregg Co - not in SSDI

You have to take into accoutn if they died before 1964 or after 1998 they would not be in the database online-
If they did not draw Social Security benefits they would also not be in the database.Hope it helps,
