Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

Since he was born in 1887 you probably wont find any record.
Texas (as a State) started keeping records in 1903. Some counties have a FEW records prior to that. Taylor County has most back to 1898 (I emphasize MOST). Prior to that you would have to rely on family bibles, cemetery dates or some written history.
The address for Austin- for death certificate is:

Bureau of Vital Statistics
Texas Department of Health
P. O. Box 12040
Austin, Tx. 78711-2040

It will cost $9.00 and will take about 8 weeks to get.

The newspaper's number is (915) 670-5230 {that is where they take obituary information. They are open from 8-5 Central Time.
I will get the address for the cemetery today out of the book.
Betty
