Dear Researcher
I was born in Breckenridge and lived there most of my years in public school. I know of the location of the Kiker Funeral. My mother and father both died away from Breckenridge but are buried in the cemetery there. The Breckenridge part of their services were handled by Melton Funeral Home successor to Kiker. The years on them were 1954 and 1981. There may have been another successor to Melton.
This is good Friday of 2010 and our library is closed today; they do have a number of phone directories which would tell of any funeral homes that now exist. You might go to white and type in Melton funeral home and Breckenridge TX. Also the local newspaper there is the Breckenridge American; you can find them at Breckenridge They have obits from the last 15 or so days back. By reading them they possibly will have been funerals conducted in both funeral homes. The other one there was once Satterwhite now it has two names one of which is Kitchens. This is not successor to Kiker.
Also Family has a number of copies of Texas death certificates which I believe go back as far as 1924 and beyond. I tried to go there for you but my computer is somewhat on the fritz and wouldn't let me.
I hope some of these leads will net what you seek. I am a bit surprised that someone there in Breck didn't respond to your post. Good luck.
Gene Davenport
