I thought you might be interested in the following excerpts from the History of Somervell Co., TX book.

From page 100, regarding the Paluxy Baptist College:

"By 1887 the school was sorely in debt. The only way out was to sell, so it was sold to Professor Rivers and became Rivers Academy at that time. He held it only a short time before he sold it to the northern Presbyterian Church and it became Glen Rose College or Collegiate Institute."

From page 102, regarding Riverdale School:

"Riverdale School was located between George's Creek and Cox Bend schools, on land donated by George and Millie Dale. Because of this donation, thje school was named after them, with the river part either after Mr. Rivers, the first teacher, or after the Brazos River. No one is sure which."
