Thanks Debbie,
This is his second wife. He was married prior to this Martha. This one was Martha Simmons. His first Wife was Martha Wilkerson. He had two children with Martha Wilkerson, William M. Groom, and Wilkerson Groom. I am decended from his union with Martha Wilkerson. The big mystery is who were John's parents and siblings, and why was he estranged from them? He wrote in the family Bible " When I have passed away, don't make any record of it at all." There is oral family history that he ran with outlaws down in Fannin County, Texas, but none of that has been proven yet.
