I really thank you for this information. I do not see any familiar names except for the Mary Jane BEASLEY and her husband, a MAY. A Bryant BEASLEY was a good friend and business partner of my GGF, Robert W. DANIEL, Esq. of Jefferson County, GA. He married, Mary Jane RENEAU, daughter of Rev. Russell RENEAU and the Elizabeth (STOCKTON) RENEAU for whom you gave me the burial information.
Also, the MAY family of Jefferson County, FL and Thomas County, GA was collateral with the RENEAU family.
However, the information in this book is not correct. Elizabeth Stockton RENEAU as born 30 Apr 1809 in Jefferson County, TN and died on 21 May 1898 in Glen Rose, TX. I can also see how someone misread her burial date because an "8" and an "9" often look the same after years on a tombstone. <grin> The DOB and DOD information I list is from the Reneau-Richter Family Bible, which was the Family Bible of Rev. RENEAU and his wife, Elizabeth, before it passed into the Richter family after her death in 1898.
I know that in 1880 Elizabeth was living with her grand-daughter, Mrs. John C. RICHTER, Sr. in Madison, Morgan County, GA. I also feel she went to Glen Rose, TX to visit her daughter, then Mary Jane RIVERS but Mary Jane DANIEL before the death of her first husband, Robert W. DANIEL, in 1865. In 1866 she married Professor Winfield M. RIVERS and I assume they were living in Glen Rose when Elizabeth RENEAU came to visit and died, there.
BTW, I have seen the 1888 date before in other material but I have to go with the date in her family bible, which I know has never been inaccurate. I also know that Mary Jane RENEAU (nee DANIEL and nee RIVERS), her daughter, was the one who entered the date in the Bible because it is in her hand. However, she was 70 in 1900 and she could well have made a mistake. <grin>
Is there a book of Wills for Sommervell County? That may answer the date of her death. However, Mary Jane lived to age 82 and her mother (using the 1809 DOB and the 1898 DOD) lived to 89 which would be about the right lifespan. Thanks for responding....
