This upcoming weekend will be the Barton, Parker and related families from the area around Brownsboro, Henderson County, Texas. The event is the weekend of the first Sunday in October each year. Sunday is 1 Oct this year. The area lived in by these families includes Murchison to Chandler and Edom to Larue but descendants spread all across the Texas with branches in many states.
From Hwy 31 take FM 607 South about 3 miles to the flagpole on the left turn on CR 3606 and go about 1 mile there will be signs. From Hwy 175 take 607 at Larue and go to Leagueville then take 607 north about 3 miles to the flag and CR 3606.
Camping is allowed.
The Barton family first settled in Nacogdoches and Anderson Counties then moved into Henderson County descendants also settled in Cherokee, Rusk, Smith, Van Zandt, Hopkins, Navarro, Dallas, Tarrant, Parker and many other Texas Counties. This list is also good for the other families included. The Parkers Entered through Shelby County and some are still there. The Laymance family settled east of Brownsboro. Information on the other families will be there.
Friday 29 Sep there is Hotdog cookout in the evening 6 PM but people gather in the afternoon to visit around 4 PM. Bring dogs and buns.
Saturday evening 30 Sep is a hamburger cookout fixings provided. Bring meat and buns.
Sunday is the standard covered dish dinner at noon.
Saturday at noon there will be a brown bag lunch genealogy get together. Bring a sack lunch and drinks and discuss the genealogy of most of the families that lived in the area. Extensive information will be available to look at.
Some but not all are the Adair, Boles, Chapman, Chandler, Cook, Davis, Echols, Epperson, Featherston, Garner, Hatton, Henderson, Holiman (various spellings), Hughes, Jolley, Killingsworth, Laymance, McLean, Meeker, Pruitt, Ragan, Reagan, Smith, Snow, Stedham, Stidham, Tindel, Tullos, Worsham.
There are over 4000 Barton descendants in my data as many Parkers and others because of the multiple marriages between these families the trees are very intertwined.
Only a very small number of surnames are listed here I would be interested in meeting with anyone having family that lived within this area bring photos and documents and any genealogy related materials.
Lets meet share and exchange email addresses.
