Nancy Jean Latham (17 Oct 1859 - 29 Nov 1941). She was born in Carthage and died in Denton. Her parents were Jack Thomas and Lucy Wilkerson per the informant M. E. Stanfield. I have no idea who M.E Stanfield is... do you? She was also the oldest sister of James Thomas, father of my granny Lucille.

Did "something tragic possibly happen to the family of William J. Thomas? I think so. The conclusion is based on separation of the young brothers in 1880. Seventeen-year old Elijah Thomas was living with the family of William L. Neal. (Any ideas who William L. Neal is?
Fourteen-year old Matthew Thomas was living with Nancy Wilkirson(sp) [there will be a test on her, later :].
Eleven-year old James Thomas was living with uncle James H., aunt Caroline, and cousin James Applegate.

That's five of six children that were on the 1870 census with W. J. Thomas as head-of-household. Who was Amaziah H. Latham? Unsure! His death certificate (12 Aug 1858 - 3 Aug 1940) is also viewable online. He died in Carthage and was buried in Miller Cemetery. Father identified as John Latham and mother identified as surname Huff. First, positive, identification is on 1870 Panola-Beat 1-Image 37.

Were Nancy Wilkison and Nancy Huff the same person? In either case, the family of Amaziah Hilman Latham and Nancy Jean (Thomas) Latham were in Panola County 1880 - 1930. Conclusion! For the purpose of kinship, William Jackson Thomas was the common ancestor. His children James and Nancy were siblings. Essie Florence (my granny Lucille's sister) and Nancy Latham's kids were first cousins. The informant on Nancy Jean Latham's death certificate, (again!) M. E. Stanfield, will need to be researched.
