Wm Andrew McFadden born Nov 1844 in Houston Co Tx is shown as the only other person living with Sherley Goodwin & his wife Elizabeth [McClain] on the 1850 and 1860 censuses of Houston Co, Texas. Sherley & Elizabeth emigrated from Ga to "Tx" by 1835. Also, there are no other McFadin (any spelling) shown on these 1850 & 1860 censuses.
Andrew is found next on the 1870 census of Shelby Co Tx with (assumed) wife Mary, 4 yr old son Wm H. McFadden, and an 18 yr old Joel Goodwin in his Household.
Joel is found in 1880 living with his wife & 3 kids in Sabine Parish La.

There were McFadden's in the Teneha Dist (included Shelby Co) when the 1st census of Tx was taken (1827-1835) and most of them moved on to Panola Co by 1850 and some to DeSoto Parish La...... some left and returned in later years
Was Andrew McFadin/McFadden Sherley's grandson? some other relation? Does anyone know who Andrew's parents are? Andrew was a prevalent name in my McFadden line beginning with Andrew born abt 1754 in Tryon Co, NC, son of John Stephen & Hannah McFaddin.
NOTE: It is reported that Shearly Goodwin filed a required character certificate May 23rd 1835 in S an Augustine upon entering Mexico stating that he was a native of Georg ia and a man of family of five persons. It was accepted by Arthur Henrie and that Shearly Goodwin was granted title to a league of land on 18 Oct 1835. T he property is situated on the W. side of the Sabine.
So Andrew's parents apparently married in Texas.
I have not been able to find Andrew or Fannie 1920 in Texas or Lousiana or his son Wm Henry after 1880. Son John Morris McFadden remained in DeSoto Parish.
The 1880 census said Andrew's father was born in Alabama but it's quite possible he was wrong about that.......Does anyone have a clue as to who he is?
