Abilene Reporter News Abilene, Texas Wednesday, March 3, 1943 Page 6 Turner Funeral at Albany Sunday Albany, March 23: Funeral was held at the Albany cemetery Sunday afternoon for Mrs. MINNIE TURNER, 57, a former resident of Shackelford County. Mrs. Turner died at her home in Byron, Oklahoma, last Tuesday after two years of failing health. She had been confined to her bed the past month. Castleberry funeral home was in charge of arrangements. Rev. J. B. THOMPSON of the Methodist Church officiated. Burial was in the family lot beside the graves of her parents, JOHN WESLEY TURNER and LOUETTA GREEN THOMPSON TURNER. Born December 7, 1885 in Shackelford County, 10 miles south of Albany, she moved to Baird with her parents when 10 years old. She was a graduate of Baird high school and University of Texas at Austin, and had taught school in Putnam, Moran and Cisco. She had been a member of the Methodist Church for many years with which she united early in life. In 1917, she married ERNEST PORTER TURNER in Cherokee, Oklahoma and they made their home in Byron, Oklahoma. Survivors include five children: PAUL EVERETT TURNER of Santa Ana, California; ALTON TURNER, LORETTA TURNER, ATLAS TURNER of Byron, Oklahoma, ETTA LOU TURNER of Enid, Oklahoma; a brother, THOMAS B. MADLEY of Baird, a sister JOSIE B. TURNER of Wichita Falls, and a sister-in-law Mrs. J. W. TURNER of Abilene. Pallbearers were JIM MCFARLAND of Baird, R. J. MOBERLEY, DEE LEACH, W. L. HATCHER, BYRON ELLIOTT of Albany and SAMUEL DILLER of Moran. Notify Administrator about this message?
