I found Henry Franklin McNelly's mother on several more documents. Henry Franklin was born in 1855 to Adella Eveline Newsom McNelly and Stephen McNelly in KY USA. We know that Stephen left Adella shortly after Henry was born and never saw him again until he was middle-aged. In KY marriage records, Adella McNelly married H.L.(Larson)Dunning 20 Sep 1860 in Caldwell Co. KY. On the 1860 KY Census for Caldwell Co., KY, we can find Eveline McNelly and H.F. or Henry McNelly age 4 living with her mother, Martha Morris Newsom and some of her siblings. He was born in November. Then we can find H.L. Dunning and A.E. Dunning along with H.F. McNelly, age 14 in the KY Census for 1970. Again, we find H.L. and Adella Dunning in the 1880's Caldwell, Co. Adella and H. Larson had several children that I never heard about. I think perhaps he, Henry, never had anything to do with the family after he left home and came to Texas. I had a death date for Adella that came from a tree on in the 1800's. However, she was still alive at 77 in the 1910 KY Census, Caldwell, CO. I haven't found any death for her or H. L. Dunning as yet. I only found Adelah McNelly's marriage after searching KY marriages, deaths and births. It took a long time to find her.

Do you have any good pictures of Ernest, your father or any relatives during that time period? I would surely like to have copies via e-mail if you would care to share.

I go to Abilene occasionally with my husband when he has work there. I then go to Baird and some of the smaller communities to gather McNelly and Jordan (my mother) historical information and tromp out the cemeteries taking pictures of headstones to post on my tree for the appropriate person. If you live close by, I would love to meet you sometime since we are cousins. Do you have contact with any other of our cousins? Again, thank you for contacting me.
