Hello, Richard. Ernest was my great uncle. I knew he lived in Crossplanes, TX but never was in contact with him. Ernest's middle initial was W., but I am not sure what it stood for. Thank you for sending me the downline from Ernest. Henry was mainly a farmer. After he was up in years, he did preach for a while. I don't believe that he was "ordained" but probably an evangelist. It has been quite a chore searching for any McNelly ancestor before Henry Franklin McNelly, but finally found his mother in Kentucky after diligent digging. His father was Stephen McNelly and his mother was Adelia (Adella?) Eveline Newsom. Family likes to claim Leander H. McNelly (the famed Texas Ranger) as his father, but that just isn't true. I do believe that somewhere back in the annals of time, they were related; however, I have not been able to prove anything along those lines. My grandmother was Nettie Ora McNelly, Ernest's sister. She was killed in Abilene under the wheels of a Santa Fe engine in 1928 in the downtown district. I have been there and traced the steps of where she lived, where she worked, and where she was killed when she was walking to work. I would like to continue to correspond through e-mails with you as I am sure that you may have some information to add to our tree. Are you in touch with any other McNelly relatives? I am working with Mary Etta's granddaughter, Sharon Deloyse Whitefield Najar, on our tree. Thanks for the contact. My e-mail address for ancestral correspondence is stp_search@att.net. You may also use susannax39@aol.com if you wish. Looking to hear from you again. Sue Notify Administrator about this message?
