Zena, all I could find was an article about Ira,Tx.
In the early 1900's, Ira had a bank (a branch of a bank in Snyder),a barber shop, a blacksmith shop, gin, a Masonic Hall and Odd Fellows hall and a doctor's office. Doctor Merrill and Doctor Parsons were two of the earliest doctors.
There is also a photo of the Ira blacksmith shop
showing John Wilson,Onice Wilson, Jim Wilson, Dr.Merrill and Bud Russell.
A W.A. Merrill was Sheriff of Scurry County 1903-1906 and 1915-1916.
