I just spent the whole day at the Archives in Austin and found a CSA pension application for James Robert Boyd of Scurry Co., and I'm almost certain it's my great-grandfather. (He was rejected; they said he owned too much property and was too healthy--he was 81, blind and had one useless arm, but I guess he was deemed well enough to continue working and earning a living for himself...)
I also found the CSA app for Albert M. Johnston, and I suspect that he was my gr-grandmother's brother.
