Walter Morgan- National Guard?

Hi Everyone,

I am trying to complete my Grandfather's history. His name was Walter Morgan born 1906 in Scurry County, died in 1972 and is buried in Hillside Memorial Gardens in Snyder. My Grandpa lived in Snyder until 1963. He owned an auto mechanic garage and worked as a deputy sherrif.
He married in 1932.

Sometime before his marriage to my Grandmother he was in what my Grandmother calls the "National Guard". She has no papers, only some pictures. I would like to research this, but I am not sure where to start. I know there were State Guards, but some now are part of the Army??

Anyone have any knowledge on this subject, I would appreciate it so much! My "Pa Walter" was very special to all of us Morgan grandkids.
Thanks so much,
Vickie
