You may have figured this out and I am still working on getting the details correct but I think that you Richard J is Richard Ivey Murray. If anyone out there has any corrections, additions, or suggests please let me know.

Thanks,
Lee

I heard from San Saba a few weeks ago. All were well there. Your Cousin Mat is teaching her brothers and sisters and a few other children. She studied five months at Waco Institute last year. I suppose she has no thought of marrying soon. I have not seen Hatty Cook since she first came out here. She has two little girls. Jim's wife has a girl and boy. Nan has two boys, one girl. David and Henry Hubert are single. Jack is married. Wiley has never tried to marry that I know of. Sister Betty Thite has his children. Uncle Richard Murray comes down occasionally to see us. Mr. Henderson has got bob (Bob) again. He intends to carry him below and sell him but the price of Negros is down and he gave it out.

J G W Kirkpatrick appears in San Saba Co. records when his Will dated 29 Sep 1862 is registered. His property is to go to John Kirkpatrick "if I never return from the Army", naming debts to Wiley Murray, Jackson Brown, John Barnett and Nathaniel Burden. [In 1860 San Saba, W Murray is a merchant, and N Burden is a hotel keeper] The Will is filed for registration 19 Jan 1863. S N [sic] Doran appears as a witness to affirm the correctness of the Will, which distributes any remainder to John Kirkpatrick [perhaps aka Jehue Kirkpatrick], perhaps a son-in-law married to Samuel Lowry Doran's daughter Paulina

Notes for ROSALIE A. TERRY:
a.k.a. "Aunt Mama" to Clarence Terry "Bud" Gordon
eventually lived on the Bent Oak Plantation nine miles outside of Columbus, MS, a train ran right by the plantation and the station was called Bent Oak

http://www.rootsweb.com/~mslownde/Bentoak.html
Bent Oak, Lowndes Co, MS, originally called Cobb's Switch, is the next stop on the M & O Railroad, West from McIntyre. The Moody families and the Rhetts lived here. Their houses and the station master's house were the only houses here. The importance of the railroad station here was a spur which went to the Prairie Gin Co. From 1900 on, the cotton from the plantations around was sent in wagons to be ginned. The ginner with a black crew weighed each wagon load, gave the order to such up the cotton and then weighed the wrapped finished bale. In his book, he entered the weights before it left the wagon, then the bale and calculated the weight of the seed which had gone to the seed room. Then the railroad Bill of Lading had to be made. When WW II came, the manager had another job in war work and did not return to the gin. Mrs. Allison Hardy offered to run the gin for $500.00 and her husband gave her the job and the cotton was ginned. Mrs. Hardy was the first woman to run a gin in Lowndes Co. Down the road to the west close to Billups Gate is Schular Grove. Schular Grove later became Green Pastures.
