Linda, in "Cherokee Creek Country" by Goldie Conley, she mentions John Calvin "Cal" Montgomery's first wife, Emily Williams, b. 1834 d. 1857, being buried in Hanna/Cherokee Cemetery. In "Call of the San Saba" by Alma Hamrick, J.C. Montgomery is mentioned as being on a commitee to review the road from San Saba to Llano in 1856 and also he was on the board of trustees for the high school of San saba (aka San Saba College). This was about 1892-3 from the way I interpret the passage. Don't know if these are all the same J.C. Montgomery, because in my files I have another John Calvin born about 1850 in Arkansas to Alexander Valentine & Margaret Elizabeth Williams Montgomery. Alexander & the J.C. born in 1828 were supposedly brothers.
None of these people are in my lines. Just came across info.while researching my Williams.
Hope you can glean something from it.
