Tom, I don't know if this will help, but here goes; The original pastor, Lewin Adams, of the Pine Valley Church in Coldsprings was married to Margaret Ranager (spelling varies). Her parents were John Ranager and Mary Clark. Mary Clark died about 1830 and the children were raised in Mobile by their grandmother, Elizabeth Phipps Clark, b. abt 1769. Elizabeth was married to John Thomas Clark, b. abt 1753, in Dublin Co., NC, and d. Oct 8, 1839, in Mobile. Lewin and Margaret moved to Texas shortly after the War Between the States, first settling in Polk County, then in San Jacinto County. I suppose that some of Margaret's relatives could have ended up in Coldsprings. If any of this looks familiar, please email me.
