You didn't give any dates for Martha or the children, so I had to go looking for census records, found what I needed to find maiden name of Martha.

On the 1900 census James is living next door to "Dock" Lewis, looks like that might be his father.

I notice on several of those census records there are quite a few Lilly families with connections to MS, also. Are they shirt tail kin of some kind??? It's a thought.
