There will be a Dedication of Memorial Markers for Citizens of the Republic of Texas for Elizabeth Newton HUSTON and Newton HUSTON at 11:00 am, Saturday, June 3, 2000 at Alto City Cemetery, Cherokee County, Texas.
There will also be remembrances of Col Almanzon HUSTON, Quartermaster General of the Texas Army and husband to Elizabeth HUSTON.
We are trying to locate as many descendants of Elizabeth and Almanzon as possible. Further information concerning the dedication may be obtained by calling Tom Houston at 713-739-1400 or 713-622-8656.

Elizabeth Newton (1805-1878) was married to Almanzon Huston (1799-1861). Their descendants include those with the surname HUSTON / HOUSTON, as well as descendants of the following men who married into the descendant families. Descendant families can be found in much of East Texas, including San Augustine and Nacogdoches Counties.
