On the Civil War site they show:

Travis Mixon, Confederate, 14th Regiment, Texas Cavalry (Johnson's Mounted Volunteers)

As attrition took its toll on the Southern units some were joined together with others. You might watch for this group, also.

Have you tried posting on the Civil War Forum? If not, I would post a query using information for both units, see if anyone knows if Travis even survived.
