Sheryl,
I have seen the bio's that you rerrernced in your email, all of them are incorrect. Mary Harmon was John A Windle's third wife. Permelia Lusk was his second and we do not know who is first wife was because her name was not registered. She is thought to be Native American because their first son my great, great grandfather John William was dark complected, with black hair and black eyes.

Permelia Lusk was the daughter of Thomas Lusk and Barsheba Harrington Smith. Barsheba was the mother of General James Smith from her first marriage to David Smith.
Here is a link to teh correct biography of John A Windle and his families.

The reason this story is on the Fannin Co. Page is because that is where his land grant was. His Son's John William from his first marriage and David K from his second marriage settled on that land.

John William and Lucinda were married by a Justice of the Peace in Henderson, Rusk Co. TX on August 13th, 1847.
