The Marriage of Bersheba Harrington Smith and Thomas Lusk

Someone contacted me about the Marriage of Bersheba Harrington Smith and Thomas Lusk seeking proof that they were married.

While researching the Harrington's, Bersheba's family, I ran across a Writ of Partition concerning the estate of John Harrington (Bersheba's father), entitled Jeptha Harrington and others VS Y(oung). L Harrington, Excec(utor) which was filed in Union Co. South Carolina in 1814. I took a gamble and ordered a certified copy from the State of South Carolina Archives. Low and behold on the first page of the partition it states "Thomas Lusk and his wife Bersheba" in the list of others with Jeptha Harrington. They are listed again on the Summons to the hearing for the Writ with the others "Thomas Lusk and his wife Bersheba".

I assume Jeptha and Young L. Harrington were John Harrington's brothers or cousins. John named Bersheba's brother Young C. Harrinton so that is a good indication.

Bersheba and Thomas' daughters were Caroline Lusk Hamilton Davis, who married William C. Davis after her first husban Francis "Frank" Hamilton was killed. Permelia was the eldest daughter who married John A. Windle in 1835 in TN.
