I'm just reaching...
My grandparents lived in Laird Hill, Rusk Co., Tx, in 1953.
I believe it used to be a sort of settlement or "camp" built by one of the oil companies, for the ones who followed the oil well drilling business. The Lairds were very wealthy and had huge holdings in the area. In this community, there were Funderburks, Satterwhites, Culpeppers, Jacksons, Boyds..many more, who knew one another for years...and not far from my grandparents, the Pittsers, were the Gardner-Whites. Mr White m: Ms White of Wichita Falls, Tx. Both had previous marraiges. Mr White may have had the White's Western Auto, in nearby Kilgore, Gregg Co., Tx...apx 10 mi away. My Grandmother, a Sublett, had a grandmother, who was a Gardner. There's a lot of "coincidental" things related to these folks. I'm trying to figure some of these out. If this strikes a cord with anyone, please let me know!
Thanks, so much...
