More ideas. Don't know where you live, but bet you have access to a Federal Records Center. They have microfilm of final Hawes-Dawson tribal census. If this person ever got to IT, there are at least 2 US Census (1890-1900) of all tribes in the Territory. (there is a book entitled Cherokee by blood - 2 vols that is an index to the rolls.)

Finally, most of this data is readily available at the Cherokee Tribal Nation HQ in Muskogee, Oklahoma. They'll even help with your search.
