This was a rumor started by an article in a Tyler newspaper. Lucinda Caison was my 2nd great-grandmother she was the daughter of Seth Caison (a first settler to Texas, Rusk County). The article erroneously reported that she was the mistress of W. C. Caison who was the son of Larkin Caison (also a first settler to Texas, Rusk County). Larkin and Seth Caison were brothers. W. C. Caison was her cousin. In that day and age women who were "kept" by another man were called witches.
