I'm also trying to find the Cherokee heritage in my branch of the Jenkins family that came from AL to Rusk / Henderson County. Greenberry Jenkins came to the area about 1839, when the Cherokees were being herded out of GA/AL. Soon thereafter one of his daughters, I think, married a Ridge from TN (Major Ridge was a prominent Cherokee chief at that time). Anyone have info that might relate?
