I was born and reared in Rockwall, Texas . The best teacher I ever had was Mildred Townsend, the sister of Lindsay . There was another sister, Alice. Tully Lindsey Townsend was born in 1872 and died 1961. He had a grocery store in Rockwall. He was married to Florence Hartman, b. 1893,d. 1950.( I got their birth and death dates from "Cemetery Inscriptions of Rockwall County, Texas."
Florence sold several short stories to magazines. I remember her coming to school and telling us a ghost story that she had written. I believe her stories were published. Alice was an artist and I believe she drew advertisements for the Dallas Times Herald. I can remember her substituting for Mildred and she would draw paper dolls and clothes for the girls. Maybe you already know all of this. There are two Townsends buried in the Royse City Cemetery but I don't know how they are related. They are Thomas G. Townsend b. Nov. 3, 1881 and d.Nov. 28, 1963 and Rosie M. Townsend b. Mar. 12, 1881 and d. Mar. 22, 1960.
Martha DeWees Peace.
