Dora A. McCreary was a daughter of Alexander Malloy McCreary and Mary M. Elrod. They are also burid in Mt. Zion Cem. Alexander M. and Mary had a total of seven know children.

Alexander M. McCreary was a son of Samuel McCreary and Martha Neal. This family mig with there children from Washington Co., Mo in early 1850 after the cen there. Samuel McCrary came to Texas and for a very short while lived by his brother and the Vance family which were in-laws in Collin Co., Texas. Samuel died in 1853 and is buried in the Maxwell/Decature Cem. in Murphy Collin Co., Texas, by his brother William McCreary.

The wife and children of Samuel stayed in Collin Co., for a few years and than moved over to Kaufman/later Rockwall Co., Texas.
