I've found an old picture of a man in uniform which I have identified as the uniform of the UNIFORMED KNIGHTS OF PYTHIAS. This picture was among our old family pictures, in a group of pictures, postcards, etc. that were for the most part of the PIETSCH, SHELANDER, PETERSON families.
Only six pictures in that stack were identified.
I thought that the man in this picture was possibly Emil Pietsch, who was labeled in one photo. However, a cousin said she thinks he looks like a man in a Knights of Pythias picture in A HISTORY OF ROBERTSON COUNTY, TEXAS by Baker, and he is labeled as FRANK MARTIN. However, we don't know of FRANK MARTIN, and how he might be connected to this family. We do have other family members, PETER FRANZ and C.O. SHELANDER SR. and JR. in that same picture.
I have had a time trying to track down even the uniform. I thought it might be a Prussian military uniform, but finally found a group picture that identified it as Uniformed Knights of Pythias. I haven't seen anything about this group in Robertson county-just the Knights of Pythias.
I would certainly like to identify this man and hope that someone out there can help.
