Born 1860, died of pneumonia December 3, 1909 in Golden, TX at the age of 49.

Started "Southern Development Normal" singing school in Waco, Texas. See

and

I am guessing you've already seen the former link, because that's the only place on the net besides here where I've been able to find his full name. :)

He taught music to Tillit S. Teddlie one of the most famous hymn writers from the church of Christ.

I am holding a book with two hymns by Eiland, entitled "Contented" and "My Soul, To Christ Hold On." The book is a special one-time book published in 1996, but the people at that second link should be able to track down copies if you are interested.

I owe Eiland a great debt of gratitude. The singing school he started influenced the founding of a later school that meant an incredible amount to my family history. The work of F.L. Eiland still touches people today.
