One of the oldest marked graves, if not the oldest, in the Rockport Cemetery, is that of Andrew J. Hogan who died Dec. 8, 1874. A big bush is in front of the headstone, so it is partially hidden, but it is there. I posted a photo of the headstone and other information on the following website: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=6840984 Andrew J. Hogan is shown as postmaster of Rockport, Refugio County, Texas in 1869. He and Oliver P. Reid, Jr. were co-owners of "The Finish" Saloon in Rockport. See: http://www.rootsweb.com/~txrefugi/saloons_gambling_houses.htm The Texas Historical Marker at the Rockport Cemetery claims the oldest marked grave is that of Emma Fulton, but Emma Fulton died in 1876. Andrew J. Hogan died in 1874. Several other burials in the Rockport Cemetery are posted, some with photos and additional information, at: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&GRid=6840984&CRid=6427&FLid=7131684&FLgrid=6840984& Notify Administrator about this message?
