Carline Srader Simmons
EASTLAND -- Carline Srader Simmons, age 59, and longtime beauty shop owner, died Saturday July 17, 2004 in an Abilene hospital. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday in the Edwards Funeral Chapel in Eastland with Rev. Jimmy Lively officiating with burial in Eastland City Cemetery.
Born March 20, 1945 in Petersberg, Texas to John and Pauline Steele Srader, she was raised in Hico and Stephenville but spent most of her time in Strawn, Texas. She married Jim Simmons April 28, 1962. She was a graduate of Glen and Lottie's beauty school in Abilene in 1972. She worked for Daryl Emfinger for a while before opening Carline's Hair Fashions in Eastland, which she operated until selling the shop to Vickie Truran in May 2004.
Carline was an active member of Merriman Baptist Church in Ranger singing with groups, teaching Sunday school to the beginner's class for many years because she loved children. She also enjoyed fishing and gardening.
She is survived by husband, Jim Simmons of Eastland; son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Kamille Simmons of Comanche; granddaughters, Sabrina and Katrina Simmons of Comanche; sisters, Myrtle Baker of Nimrod TX, Shirley McCoy of Duncan, OK, Rachel Fitzgerald of Stephenville and Tommie Langford of Cisco, TX; brothers, Bob Srader of Mineral Wells, TX, Lloyd Srader of Weatherford TX, Calvin Youngblood of Duncan, OK, Danny Shubert of Duncan, OK, J.L. Shubert of Strawn and David Patterson of Houston. She was preceded in death by brothers, William Bill Srader and Paul Samuel Srader.
