Luther Fuqua Dies Suddenly At Home Here ~~~
Nephew of W.H. Fuqua, Amarillo Banker and Cattleman~~~
After an illness of barely two hours, Luther H. Fuqua, 46, wellknown Amarillo resident, died suddenly at his home, 2002 Taylor street, at 2:30 last night. Acute indigestion was given by physicians as the cause of his death.
Mr. Fuqua had been a resident of Amarillo for more than 16 years, coming here from Quannah where he had lived as a young man and had been associated with his father in the lumber business. For more than 15 years he had been employed as warehouse foreman of the Santa Fe railway here.
Surviving Mr. Fuqua are his wife; three sons L. H. Jr. of Houston, James Gordon and Ralph Jordan; his mother Mrs. A. S. Fuqua of this city; three brothers, Euclid of Amarillo, A. S. Jr., of California and Clyde of Wichita Falls; and three sisters; Mrs. G. W. Webb, Canyon, Mrs. E. B. Posey, Hereford, and Mrs, Al Key of Wichita Falls.
He was a nephew of H. W. Fuqua, prominent Amarillo banker and cattleman.
The body is in state at the N.S. Griggs & Sons Chapel. Funeral services will be held from the family residence tomorrow followed by interment in Llano cemetery. The hour has not been decided.
