William M. THORP(d.1900/1910 TX or NM)married 2nd wife Sarah Gossett Sewell (dau. of James Lockridge & Priscilla Louisa Thompson Gossett). In 1868 in Texas Sarah Gossett had married James H. SEWELL (b. 1847 Ark-1872 killed by indians in Kimble Co., Texas, James was son of James SEWELL & Susan Haney ADAMS)and they had Mary P. SEWELL (1885 md Sidney P. STOVALL) and John SEWELL. William M. (it mistakenly has that his name was John P. THORPS) & Sarah THORP are in the 1880 Throckmorton Co.,Texas Census with Sarah's two children by James H. SEWELL (Mary P. Sewell who in 1885 md Sidney Stoval in Throckmorton Co.,TX and son John Sewell). There are also some of the children of William M. THORP's and his unknown first wife (Milton Thorp b.1861, Allen Thorp b. 1867, Mary Thorp b. 1870,Nevil Thorp 1873, and Ida Thorp 1875). There are also 2 daughters of William M. Thorp and Sarah Gossett Sewell Thorp (Ellen Thorp b. 1876 and Laura M. Thorp b. 1878)also in the 1880 Throckmorton Co.,Texas census. In 1900 Clayton Twp.,Union County,New Mexico Census is W. M. Thorp 64 yrs. old, freighter, b. PA, PA, PA and Sarah THORP 46 yrs. old TX, Tn, NC along with children: Bill Thorp b. 1880 TX, Alcie (Alice?)Thorp b. 1884 TX. and Willis P. Thorp b. 1891 in New Mexico. There is also a baby dau. of Mr. & Mrs. W.M. Thorp in the Old Clayton Cemetery in Union Co., New Mexico. Sarah Thorp (56 years old, b. TX)is a widowed boarder in the 1910 Tom Green Co., Texas Census with Maybelle (who I think may be Sarah & W.M. Thorps dau.) and Nelson DAWSON. In 1930 Sarah Thorp (77 yrs. old TX,parents:TN,NC) is in the Potter Co., Texas Census with her unmarried son Willis P. THORP (38 years old). Sarah Gossett Sewell Thorp is said to have died in Amarillo, Potter Co., Texas. Her 2nd husband W.M. Thorp is also said to be buried in Potter Co., Texas. Does anyone have access to the cemetery records so I can locate the graves of any of the above persons? Anyone who has information on any of these families please contact me.
