The book, "Hood's Texas Brigade: A Compendium," by Harold B. Simpson (Hillsboro, Texas: Hill Junior
College Press, 1977) contains the best record of which I am aware of Hood's Brigade.

Also, you may want to contact Peggy Fox at

The Harold B. Simpson Confederate Research Center
Hill College
PO Box 619
Hillsboro TX 76645
(817) 582-2555

or go there if possible. (Hillsboro is between Waco and Ft. Worth on I35.) Hood's Brigade is their specialty but they have lots of other Confederate records. They have microfilm copies of the National Archives holdings on Texas units as well as information from the Texas State Archives. The center is a part of the library and so is closed on school holidays. I think it is normally open weekdays 8 - 12 and 1 - 4. (By the way, Peggy Fox is a rare person indeed. Not only is she knowledgeable but she is also quite pleasant and helpful.

Hope this helps.

Jack
